If you don’t have double-sided paper, no worries—you can decorate the top or bottom with markers or pens to mimic the look of a real acorn cap.

Tips For Success

  • Use lightweight paper for crisp folds
  • If using solid color paper, draw on details to make the acorn top textured
  • Make a set in different sizes to display in a bowl or add to a garland
  • Slightly larger squares are easier for beginners to fold neatly

Common Mistakes & How To Avoid Them

  • Uneven folds – Take your time aligning corners; small misalignments affect the final shape
  • Paper too thick – Avoid cardstock or stiff paper; it won’t hold tight creases well

Color, Paper Ideas, and Variations

  • Classic brown + tan – Ideal for realistic Thanksgiving décor
  • Gold or copper metallic paper – Adds a festive touch for elegant fall table settings
  • Plaid or fall-patterned paper – Fun for garlands or kid-friendly crafts
  • Pastel acorns – Unexpected and sweet for seasonal greeting cards
  • Mini acorns – Use smaller squares for mini decorations or to glue onto name tags
