Materials Needed
- 1 square sheet of black origami paper (or any color you prefer), we recommend 3 inches x 3 inches (7.5 cm x 7.5 cm)
- Scrap paper to make the wings and fangs
- Marker, to draw the face!
- Glue or double sided tape
Instructions
Step 1: Let’s start with the paper for your bat’s body. Start with the color you want your bat body to be facing down. Arrange your paper to sit like a diamond shape.
Step 2: Fold the bottom point up to meet the top point.
Step 3: Fold both the bottom right and bottom left corners up to meet the top point.
Step 4: Unfold previous step.
Step 5: Take the top layer of the top point and fold it down to meet the bottom edge of the paper.
Step 6: Take the bottom left corner and fold it up along the existing crease, and then carefully tuck it into the pocket you made in the previous step. Crease and press flat.

Step 7: Repeat previous step for the bottom right corner.
Step 8: Take the top point of the paper (which should have the inside color of your bookmark) and bring it down to the bottom point. Carefully tuck it into the pocket. Crease and press flat.
Step 9: Rotate your paper so that the point is now at the top. Then, using a marker, decorate it to give your bat a face.
Step 10: Using another sheet of paper, draw out 2 wings and 2 fangs, then cut them out.
Step 11: Glue the wings and fangs onto the bat body as shown (make sure you glue the fangs on the inside of the bat body not on the back). Completed bat bookmark.
