Materials Needed

  • 1 x square sheet of origami paper.
  • Markers to decorate your chicken

You can use any size you like, but to start I recommend using 6 inch (15 cm) square paper.

Instructions

Step 1: Start with the color you want your chicken to be facing down. Arrange your paper to sit like a diamond shape.

Step 2: Fold the bottom point up to meet the top point.

Step 3: Fold the top right edge down (top layer only) on a diagonal to meet the bottom edge, as shown.

Step 4: Unfold previous step.

Step 5: Fold the bottom right corner up to meet the point shown.

Step 6: Fold the same point back to the right to meet the right corner as shown.

Step 7: Fold the bottom left corner up to meet theright corner.

Step 8: Fold the same point back to the left to meet the left corner as shown.

Step 9: Fold the top point down slightly. This will be the bottom of your chicken.

Step 10: Fold both the bottom left and bottom right flaps out on a diagonal so that they overhang the edge of the paper slightly. These will be the wings of your chicken.

Step 11: Flip your paper over. Decorate your chicken as you like. Completed origami chicken.
