Looking for a charming paper craft that’s simple, playful, and a little bit magical?

This origami mushroom ticks all the boxes.

Made with just one square sheet of paper, this little fungi-inspired creation is great for kids, cozy autumn afternoons, or adding a quirky handmade touch to your seasonal decor.

It also fits right in with Halloween crafting.

These mushrooms can be spooky (think black and orange paper), or sweet and woodland-inspired.

Line them up as table scatter for a forest-themed party, attach them to string for a garland, or glue a few to a Halloween card.

Whether you go realistic with red and white or lean into fun colors and patterns, it’s a great little project to personalize.

This is a no-glue, no-scissors craft that comes together quickly—ideal for crafters of all levels.

Use it in a classroom project, as a handmade gift topper, or even as part of a DIY fairy garden scene.

Common Mistakes & How To Avoid Them

  • Lopsided mushroom tops: Take your time lining up corners neatly—accurate folds make a big difference.
  • Using thick paper: Stick with thinner origami or craft paper so it holds its shape well and doesn't bulk up.

  • Classic red with white spots – Draw or glue on small dots
  • Halloween version – Use black and orange, or even purple and green
  • Woodland theme – Try earthy tones like beige, brown, and mossy green
