This standing Christmas tree napkin fold is a fun and simple way to add some holiday spirit to your table.

It’s perfect for Christmas dinners, family gatherings, holiday parties, or even office celebrations.

With just one paper napkin, you can fold a 3D tree that stands upright, making each place setting look festive and thoughtful.

This fold is versatile—you can use patterned napkins with green and red designs, metallic holiday colors, or even plain white napkins that you decorate with small stickers or glitter.

It works beautifully for both formal dinners and casual holiday events, and it’s a craft that kids and adults can enjoy together.

The best part?

It’s fast and requires no cutting, glue, or extra materials.

This makes it an ideal last-minute idea if you want your table to look polished and creative with minimal effort.

Pair it with small ornaments, a sprig of greenery, or a candy cane tucked into the folds for an extra festive touch.

Skill Level

Difficulty: ★☆☆☆☆ (Very Easy)

Materials Needed

1 x standard square paper napkin. You can use any size you like, as long as it’s square.

Instructions

Step 1: Typically, paper napkins come folded in quarters. Open out your napkin fully and have the patterned/colored side facing down.

Step 2: Fold the top edge down to meet the bottom edge.

Step 3: Fold the right edge to meet the left edge.

Step 4: Unfold previous step.

Step 5: Hold the top layer by the lower right hand corner. Then, very carefully, slide it over to the lower left corner. This will form a triangle shape.

Do not crease the outer edges of the triangle, but you need to crease in middle (vertically) of the triangle so that it stays in place.

Step 6: Fold the left side of the triangle to match the right side of the triangle. Again, don’t crease the outer edges of the triangle, just crease the middle of the napkin to re-enforce it.

Step 7: Hold the top layer by the lower left hand corner. Like we did before, you need to make a triangle shape by bringing it over to match the lower right corner. But, be careful not to crease the triangle edges.

Step 8: Fold the left side of the triangle to match the right edges. Then, crease along the straight left edge.

Step 9: Carefully stand up your folded napkin. Completed standing Christmas tree napkin fold.

Tips For Success

  • Fold carefully along the creases to make the tree symmetrical.
  • Add small decorative touches like a star sticker at the top for an extra special touch.
  • Tree doesn’t stand – make sure that you re-enforced the center crease line as mentioned in the steps. This will help give structure to your tree.
